Meet Dr. Shae Ochoa

I love creating beautiful smiles – that’s why I became an orthodontist!

It is extremely gratifying to help kids grow up with strong self-confidence, and to see where that confidence takes them in life. It is just as rewarding to work with adult patients, giving them the radiant, healthy smile they desire and boosting their self-esteem as a result of treatment.

As an orthodontist, and as a mother, I appreciate that each patient has different clinical needs and treatment desires. During treatment planning, I am always thinking “If this was my child, or my family member, how would I approach their care?”

My goal is to ensure each patient achieves a functional, beautiful bite and a lovely smile that lasts a lifetime: a smile that is filled with confidence and with them at every important moment in their life.

Education and Professional Memberships

Dr. Shae was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Oklahoma. She remained at the university, completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency, as well as her Orthodontic residency and a Master of Science (MS) degree.

In order to provide the highest-quality orthodontic care, and stay current on the latest treatment options, Dr. Shae pursues a range of continuing education. She is a passionate learner and enjoys seeking out new techniques that provide comfortable care and the strongest results.

In addition to attending local, regional, and national meetings and lectures, Dr. Shae also studies the latest research and discussions of treatment modalities in professional journals.

In 2007, Dr. Shae was awarded board certification by the American Board of Orthodontics. This designation is granted after the orthodontist has completed a rigorous, peer-developed and externally validated, written and clinical examination.

Seeking board certification is voluntary: Dr. Shae undertook the process because she believes her patients deserve care delivered by an orthodontist who shows her commitment to lifelong learning and the standards of specialty practice.

In addition to being a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Shae is an active member of the:

  • American Association of Orthodontists
  • American Dental Association
  • Texas Dental Association

As a fitness trainer, Raul spends a lot of time at the gym and the family often joins him there. Dr. Shae loves supporting her daughters in their many interests. The girls are involved in cheer, soccer, dance, and tumble activities, and Raul, Katie, and Alex enjoy competing in triathlons, too.
